The Next Generation Project: Austin Launch

The Next Generation Project launched on June 12, 2006 at the LBJ Library at the University of Texas at Austin.  Colin Kahl, then Assistant Professor of Political Science, University of Minnesota, and now Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Middle East, participated in a panel on "Global Threats and Challenges."  James B. Steinberg, then Dean, LBJ School of Public Affairs, The University of Texas at Austin, and currently Deputy Secretary of State, spoke on "New Rules for the Use of Force in the 21st Century."  The Assembly stressed the importance of transparency, accountability and better use of technology in international institutions and domestic bureaucracies.
