Scranton Agenda

On September 24, 2008, The American Assembly convened a meeting in Scranton, Pennsylvania, organized with "Retooling for Growth" participant Austin Burke, President of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce.

"Building a 21st Century Economy in Northeastern Pennsylvania" convened 200 participants from anchor institutions, social service agencies, local business, and law and policy makers.

Panel participants included Chris Doherty, Mayor of Scranton; Michael Shuman, Vice President, Training & Development Corporation; Paul C. Brophy, Principal, Brophy and Reilly LLC; and Jeff Finkle, President/CEO, International Economic Development Council.

The keynote address was delivered by Roger Altman, Chairman & CEO, Evercore Partners and Senior Economic Advisor to the Barack Obama Presidential Campaign.
