U.S. Foreign Policy and the United Nations System

1996. Charles William Maynes (ed.), Richard S. Williamson (ed.)

Published in 1996 on the 50th anniversary of the United Nations, this collaboration between The American Assembly and The United Nations Association has experts in government, economics, law, and military explore the issues surrounding the UN that have created such a heated debate within the United States. In the years since Cold-War hostilities have waned and the UN was revived as a central arena for international security, and U.S. administrations have increasingly referred conflict situations to the Security Council, looking to the UN to establish global policy on critical social and economic problems.
